For the whole family

It’s no secret that those of us here at Hibernate support efforts to eradicate ignorance about postpartum depression. It has touched us personally and its ongoing existence and the knowledge that women are suffering alone is something that haunts us. This is why we are bringing you the latest update on the MOTHERS Act. PPD is not an issue with the momentum of awareness that breast cancer and heart disease have, though it can be every bit as devastating. PPD is not a a women’s issue, it is bigger than that. PPD casts a shadow over children, throws a pall over fathers, and ultimately robs families of harmony and hope.

For daughters bursting with promise…

And fathers filled with love…

For time in Mama’s lap…

Or a ride in Daddy’s arms…

To protect the wonder found with Mom…

We ask you to support the MOTHERS Act and make happily ever after a reality for all families.

Why are you running?

It’s pretty inevitable that moms are going to run, though it might be rare that we get to do it just for the heck (health) of it. We’re chasing toddlers, dashing through grocery stores, running late to work, or just running out of ideas.

A few weeks ago we received an email from a woman asking if we would be interested in participating in an event to promote the awareness of postpartum depression. The issue of postpartum depression is something that has touched members of SaraBear Company personally, and, as such, is something we are deeply committed to addressing. Late last fall we created a partnership with Postpartum Support International. Each SaraBear diaper caddy produced since December of 2007 has featured a hangtag promoting the awareness of PPD and alerting new moms and those who love them about the resources available to them should they witness or experience symptoms of PPD.

SaraBear Company is over-the-moon to be participating in the Stepping Out of the Darkness 5K Road Race for the Women & Infants Hospital Day Program in Rhode Island next month. The privilege of participating in an event that could help one less mom feel an absence of hope or educate a relative that they can help, is something that makes our hearts soar.

The race is scheduled for May 10th, and while we would love to run, a 4/26 due date and contracts to fulfill with boutiques and department stores, make the trip unrealistic for us - this year! We will be sending along a SaraBear diaper caddy as a prize as well as contributing a monetary donation to help defray the costs associated with putting on an event like this. We couldn’t be prouder as we imagine the SaraBear paw on the Stepping Out of the Darkness 5K Road Race t-shirts, patting the backs of the amazing people working the event and running the race.

Let’s hear it for the men, women and children who will gather May 10th to shine a light on postpartum depression and offer hope for the women and families who have been or will be touched by PPD.
